Our Cover story: Shaping Education
Ever since more and more Bachelor and Master courses have been available the range of possible studies for prospective designers has become unclear. Furthermore the – increasingly international – competition between universities is coming to a head. Tim Marshall, Dean of Parsons The New School for Design in New York compares for us the various competing approaches to design education worldwide: How should schools respond to the fact that the design process is becoming more and more interdisciplinary? And what impact will the changeover to Bachelor and Master courses have? We also feature a photo spread of the most interesting student design magazines and diploma projects by designers who are famous today.

Making of
Chairs made of sheet metal seldom feature in the history of design, namely because it is so difficult to lend the material sufficient stability. To this end, for his new chair for Wilkhahn, Stefan Diez makes use of a deep drawing process well known in the automobile industry.

Overview
For those who want to take sharp photos rich in detail with fine contrasts, a digital single-lens reflex camera is a must. In terms of picture quality, they are still clearly superior to compact and bridge cameras. We compare five current models priced at up to 3,000 euros.
