Cover story: How to Design Exhibitions
Design exhibitions and exhibition design: Two inseparable topics. And particularly in the case of design exhibitions there is often the danger that visitors are reminded of showrooms or trade fair stands. So what is the right path to follow, between white cubes and over-dramatization? We asked leading exhibition designers – as well as Konstantin Grcic, who recently curated the first design exhibition at the London Serpentine Gallery. In form-Diskurs, Uwe J. Reinhardt tackles the functions and didactic strategies of museums in a virtual age. We also discuss trends and strategies in trade-fair design and the differences to exhibition design with Laurent Lacour (hauser lacour) and Uwe Bleher (Atelier Markgraph).
