Dekho

This book’s cover is a real attention grabber. Dekho means “to see” in Hindi we are told, and there is certainly plenty to see and discover inside. In a series of interviews, Mohor Ray, cofounder of Codesign and the Unbox Festival, presents current design developments in India via the work of nine Indian ‘design heroes’ including writers, consultants, designers and lecturers such as MP Ranjan, the late Raghunath K Joshi, Lakshmi Murthy and Neelakash Kshetrimayum. To highlight the relevance of global developments for the Indian design of the future, the anthology also includes interviews with three well known non-Indian designers: Wolfgang Weingart, Stefan Sagmeister and Casey Reas. Thanks to the range of texts alongside numerous illustrations and photographs, the reader get s a good visual impression of contemporary design in India, as well as an impression of the role design will play in the future in the world’s second most populous nation.
